Every year, Destiny Church has a huge Halloween event open to the public called Kid Fest. Kid Fest started twelve years ago with a vision from their head pastors, Gene and Melody Bebee. They wanted to reach out to families and open up the church to the community to show families that they place a high value on children. Their goal was to show that Destiny Church is a safe place for parents to bring their children.

The event has grown tremendously over time, and every year the church comes together to make it all happen. When planning Kid Fest, there is always a new theme to work with. This year, the theme was “mad scientist lab”. Destiny Church always has so much for the kids to do. They have bounce houses, food trucks, games, fun prizes, and lots of candy! And this year Destiny Church added even more to their event, with Kid Fest VIP. Kid Fest VIP was for the local foster kids and the families that they partner with. The church provided pizza and drinks for them. Justin Belt, the elementary age pastor, and Mikel Clark, the outreach pastor, both had foster parents thank them, one even saying, “Thank you for doing this event because it’s the small things that help us as we are in transition from foster care to full time adoption.” Volunteer staff were pleased to continue hearing praise even as some of the foster parents were leaving, who said things like, “Wow! They just keep giving”. That is Destiny Church’s mission – to make every child and adult that comes through their doors feel loved and welcomed. With both Kid Fest VIP and Kid Fest, they had roughly 250 kids come through the church. Destiny Church is already working to make next year’s Kid Fest even better than this year’s, and to make this community a better place for kids.
