Kicking Off The Season

The Carl Junction boy’s soccer team began their 2017 season this past August. They began their conditioning in the summer of 2017, and since the school year has started, they’ve been working for two to three hours after school every day to increase their skill and be the best team they can be in the upcoming months.

This season, the team is extremely determined to return to Districts and go on to Sectionals because of their District win last year.  “We hope to see our team go even further this year, if everything goes to plan,” said Zach Morris, a senior on the team.  Another senior, Aaron Skiles, said, “We hope to be back to back District champs and beat Carthage this year.”

So far, the players have gone up against teams from Ozark, Nixa, Bolivar, and College Heights.  The varsity team lost to Ozark (5-0) on April 22, Nixa (4-0) on April 24, and Bolivar (1-0) on April 28.  Although the results didn’t lean in Carl Junction’s favor, the team put up a great fight in each game and persevered with indomitable spirit.  During the first half of the varsity game against Nixa, the team was able to keep the score tied – and the stands on the edge of their seats – with their strong defensive strategy.  The team won the away game against College Heights (8-0) on April 29.  “Everything should look brighter from now on,” said Gavin Page, another senior from the team, while referring to the future of the season.

To anyone who hasn’t made it to a soccer game to support the team, it’s definitely worth going to experience the energy of the game firsthand. The players always put 110% of their effort behind what they do, and it is amazing to watch them communicate and work together.  It’s lots of fun to be in the stands and cheer on the players who have poured so much time and energy into the game they love, so come out and support the boy’s soccer team at the next home game!
