Third Thursday is an event that takes place in Joplin. Third Thursday has been going on for about three years now, and  it’s a great chance for families to get out and enjoy an evening while spending barely any money. Almost everyone in Joplin that you ask has either heard of or attended Third Thursday. There is many different activities to participate in at Third Thursday, such as art, music, food, shopping, giveaways, a car show, and activities for children. To everyone’s excitement, Third Thursday came back last month. It took place March 16, and started around 5:30 p.m. This event is always held in downtown Joplin, on Main Street. Food is usually distributed from food trucks, but you also have local food businesses to go and try. This event brings our community together and brings in good business for all local businesses. It features new and young musical artists, and a wonderful relaxing place just to view art. Reese Dalton, senior, said, “I think that Third Thursday is a fun thing to attend because you get to see the communities art and different people perform music. They have Missouri Southern’s students put on the program, and there are many churches that have worship groups come out and perform as well. All of the different food trucks and stands have a big variety of food options; it’s almost like fair food.” Third Thursday really lets people enjoy their day, a lot of children have fun because they bring out bounce houses and little activites. They also bring out the slip and slide during the summer. Jacob Woody, senior, said, “It was pretty neat to see all of the activities, and being able to walk through the art gallery, and try some new food from the food trucks. But my absolute most favorite part was being able to walk through and view all of the different cars, and listen to music.” Third Thursday is a great chance to experience the culture of our area, and everyone should go and experience it!
